The History of England, as well Ecclesiastical as Civil, Vol X - De Rapin Thoyras Translated from the French by N. Tindal. 1731. pp 575. Chestnut calf with gilt inlay to the boards and black decoration to the board edges. Gilt titles to leather spine panel and a mysterious gilt J.O. beneath, presumably the some-time owner. Very good: condition to be expected, with light scuffs, notably to the rear, and a weathered spine. Very strong. The paste downs are not cracked but they do have intermittent punctures from the binder. Page faces yellowed and obviously long lasting. There is the inevitable light warping to the block. Top edges murky grey, other edges speckled pink. A rare title for the collector of the De Rapin Thoyras series: the first fifteen yeas of King Charles I.
