With 72 colour and b/w illustrations, Translator's preface, Notes and an extensive bibliography THE book on early Turkish carpets, written by German academic Kurt Erdmann in 1977. He was the foremost expert on the subject, and the Chair of Turkish and Islamic Art at the University of Istanbul for many years from 1951 onwards. The three chapters describe carpets from three eras, the 13th and 14th centuries, the 16th and 17th, and conclusions on the 15th century, and the text is complemented by many illustrations, with six in dazzling colour
