The Knapp Method of Growing Cotton by W.B. Mercier and H.E. Savely - First Edition The authors are both agriculturists and field agents at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Their aim is to give a concise and practical treatise on cotton, instructive to the cotton grower in the South. Seaman Asahel Knapp (1833-1911) was an American agriculturist who originated the method in which an expert demonstrates, farm by farm, new agricultural discoveries and technologies. The book gives an overview of the history and production process of cotton and an outlook for the cotton industry. With many illustrations. An ex-library copy from the Victoria and Albert Museum, the book is in good condition for its age. The cover shows some shelf-wear and the band is a little loose, but the pages are clean.
