The story goes that senefender , who was interested in printing some of his own compositions, had at hand a freshly polished stone upon which he wrote down a laundry list for his mother using a greasy crayon. Being curious he experimented with the stone and found that, when chemically treated and inked, impressions could be pulled from the stone; thus lithography was born." Soderstorm was the sole author of the test and financed its priniting by including advertisements in a section at the book's end.
