The Maritime Heritage In Croatian Art
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
Its geographical position on the East Adriatic makes Croatia a Mediterranean country, and this has determined its centuries old seafaring tradition. Thus it is natural that paintings of ships have always been an important form of artistic expression. In addition to their artistic value they are of documentary interest allowing us to follow the economic progress of coastal Croatia from the 15th Century onwards, and to observe the development of seafaring in this part of the world as one of the essential occupations as with many other nations. This book is a catalogue of art that was exhibited in Croatia showing this maritime heritage, and was part of a print run of only 1000 books. This book is in very good condition, with notable but minor signs of wear on the outer edges of the external cover. Internally, there is some spinal damage between pages 2 and 3 but otherwise the pages are clean, the binding strong and the 72 illustrations are clear and colourful.
