The Note Books of a Woman Alone edited by M G Ostle. No dust jacket. Brown cloth hardcover in good condition, with gold lettering. Some foxing to the edges of pages, but pages are tight and clean. There is an inscription written in ink on the front free endpaper. 'Eve' died at the age of forty-eight or nine, and left "eight fat note books and some books." "I thought I was attracted to Eve because she did not do running repairs in public, or keep a half-eaten bun with her handkerchief in her table drawer. I was wrong. "I was attracted by a personality that was strange to me. I did not know that there were women who did not seek love or marriage, and yet who were loving... I did not know there were women with an intense burning sense of the inequalities in the world..." Geraldine Waife
