Titled on title pages "The Novels and Romances of J Fenimore Cooper", plus "A New Edition in Thirteen Volumes". Titled on spines "Coopers Novels", where each volume comprises two novels, as follows: - 1.2. (Spine) / VOL I: The Pioneers; The Deerslayer. - 7.8. (Spine) / Vol IV: The Heathcotes; The Oak Openings. - 11.12. (Spine) / Vol VI: The Spy; Lionel Lincoln. - 13.14. (Spine) / Vol VII: The Bravo; The Headsman. - 21.22. Overall condition of the books is Good / Very Good. These attractive books all have red leather (?) half bound marbled boards, with marbled edges to block, plus raised bands and gilt titling to spine. Boards are rubbed, with edges faded / worn through; the protected corners are less worn. Normal wear to spine, with rubbing and fraying. Varying degrees of foxing to endpapers on all books, plus moisture marks and crinkles on endpapers to some of the books. Pencil marks to some endpapers. Text pages in all volumes are very good, being clear and wholly readable, with only occasional foxing and creased corners. Bindings remain good. The 7 books are very "together", and have a pleasurable feel for reading. Taken from Wiki ....... "James Fenimore Cooper was an American writer of the first half of the 19th century, whose historical romances depicting colonist and Indigenous characters from the 17th to the 19th centuries brought him fame and fortune". Also ...... "first major American novelist, author of the novels of frontier adventure known as the Leatherstocking Tales, featuring the wilderness scout called Natty Bumppo, or Hawkeye.".
