This is a stunning second edition of a five volume set published by Clarendon Press in 1926 and edited by R. W. Chapman. Containing all of Jane Austen's renowned novels, the texts are also accompanied by introductions, appendices, and illustrated inserts. To expand, each novel contains a chronology of events, a complete list of characters, plus a guide to the social backdrop of the novels educating the reader on manners, modes of address, social statuses, and the language of the age. There are also numerous essays exploring topics which pertain to each novel. Volume One is Sense and Sensibility, Volume Two is Pride and Prejudice, Volume Three is Mansfield Park, Volume Four is Emma, and Volume Five is Northanger Abbey/Persuasion. Second Edition of the Clarendon Press Five Volume Set edited by R. W. Chapman - 1926. Books are in stunning condition considering their age and pages remain clean and readable. However, there is some age-related wear such as tanning and foxing to pages, fading to covers and spines, plus previous owner's inscription at front.
