The Pilgrim's Progress By John Bunyan (1927), Illustrated By Frank C. Pape

The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan is a Christian allegory with the first part released in England in 1678, with the second part coming in 1684. It is considered one of the most significant works of theological fiction in English literature and the progenitor of the narrative aspect of Christian media. Believed to be written in part while John Bunyan was imprisoned for going against the Church of England, the Pilgrim's Progress describes a pair of pilgrimages from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City. With heavy use of allegorical characters and places it helps teach Christians the correct way to live their lives. This edition, first published in 1910 and then reprinted in 1927, combines this classic tale with a series of full-page illustrations by Frank C. Pape. Condition is good. There is serious shelf wear on the pages and cover, with slight discolouring and markings on the pages. Despite this all pages are present and legible and illustrations are clear. The book was originally a Christmas present and as such there is a message to the recipient at the top left corner of the second page.
