The Presbyterian Ministers of Killileagh: A Notice of Their Lives and Times - Alexander McCreery, Minster of the Second Presbyterian Church, Killileagh. Published by William Mullan, Belfast, Hardback (no dust jacket) 1875. This book, about the Prebyterian Church in Killileagh, County Down, Northern Ireland, came about after a couple of lectures which were given in nearby Ballytrim, following which the author completed the history and decided to publish it. Beginning with Rev. Hans Hamilton who was minister for 45 years at the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th century, ending with Sidney Hamilton Rowan, Jr, who was born in 1826. This is an assiduous and detailed work for anyone who is interested in the history of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, which is present in Northern Ireland and the Republic. Condition: Fair. The hard cover is still attached, but the pages are coming away at the front and rear end papers. Foxing is present on the pages inside and around the edges, together with tanning. The top page edges are darkened, which may be dust or dye. The outside cover is considerably faded on the front (and partly on the back) and tanned on the spine. Some wear and tear and stains also present outside. A signature is present on the frontispiece. Also inserted: a newspaper cutting from the Church of Ireland Gazette, 22nd May 1925.
