A relatively rare children's illustrated book with an English text written by the actress Nanette Newman and beautifully illustrated in colour by Sibylle von Olfers, the original German author. A charming Nursery Book produced in 1978 The Original german story was written and illustrated by Sybylle Von Olfers who was born in Est Prussia in 1881. She died of a lung disease in 1916. She wrote and illustrated a number of children's books, the most popular being this one. Her illustrations are delightful. The Actress Nanette Newman has taken the story and translated it and it was published in 1978 by Her Husband Bryan Forbes. Our copy is in good order for its age wear and tear to spine but clean throughout and tightly bound with no former owner inscriptions.
