The Royal Marines Barracks, Eastney New
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
When Eastney Barracks, Portsmouth, closed in 1991 it was the end of an era for the Royal Marines and the surrounding community. For 127 years this huge complex had been home to thousands of men, women and children. It was a community in itself, a place of work and training, of recreation, ceremonies and comradeship. The author brings together archive material and photographs from the Royal Marines Museum to document the life, activities, landmarks, people and events which tell a fascinating story of a passing era. The book is in very good condition. There are some marks on the covers which are slightly scuffed, but all inside pages are clean.
