A valuable collection of traditional Scottish songs, 'The Scots Musical Museum' was the result of a collaboration between Robert Burns and James Johnson, and it includes more than 200 original songs. Both words and music are included. This is the complete 2 volume set which was published with a subsidy from the Scottish Arts Council. It has an introduction by Donald A Low and then a note on the text. The main part of the two volumes is a facsimile of the original book. The facsimile is based on a set of the 1853 edition of "The Scots Musical Museum" in the National Library of Scotland. "The Scots Musical Museum" was issued between 1787 and 1803 in six parts (or "volumes") containing 100 songs each. The note on the text explains to whom the songs are attributed. The text is clean and bright One page near the back of volume 2 is badly crumpled. The books are bound in black boards with white lettering on the spine . The dustjackets are present and have some edgewear. The black slipcase has a scattering of white marks on back and front and large white marks on spine edge. Apart from the slipcase, the edgewear to the dustjackets and the crumpled page the books are in fine condition.
