The Shakespeare Country, With A History Of The Festival Theatre And Its Company
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
Good - the front cover is detached from the rest of the book (see image), which is otherwise in very good condition, with a solid and square binding. Interior/text is clean and mark-free. There are 92 B&W photographs, making this an incomparable record of the area around 1920s/early 1930s Stratford, and what was to become the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Map of the local area on inside back cover. This include: Stratford, Malvern Hills, the Coswolds, the Shires, Halls Croft, Latin School-room, Gild Chapel, Clopton Bridge, Warwick and Kenilworth Castles, Beauchamp Chapel, Guy's Cliffe, Stoneleigh Abbey, Baddesley Clinton, Sulgrave Manor, etc etc. The back cover is stamped 'the Tudor House, Stratford-upon-Avon' (presumably where the book was originally purchased - for 2/6d).
