This early 'graphic novel' tells of the brave young Chinese shepherd boy who makes a very dangerous journey with his flock of sheep to deliver a vital message to Chinese soldiers facing hostile Japanese invaders. One of the early publications by the Foreign Languages Press, it clearly aims to instil a deep sense of national pride in youngsters of the time. Our copy is in remarkably good condition for its age, its illustrated card covers a little battered around the edges, corners and spine, but still bright, and firmly attached to the text block. Inside, there are no loose pages; all pages are clean and bright; no foxing. One brownish mark on the leading edge. This is a very rare item.
