Soedarsono received the B.A. and M.A. degrees in history from Gadjah Mada University, and the Ph.D. in South-east Asian Studies from the University of Michigan. Now he holds the position of Lektor Kepala (equivalent of Associate Professor) in Art History at Gadjah Mada University. From 1963 to 1980, he was director of the Dance Academy of Indonesia in Yogyakarta, where we taught dance history, 1 dance composition, and dance notation. While on leave from the academy, he taught Javanese dance at the University of California at Los Angeles, at Wesleyan University, at the University of Hawaii, and at the University of Michigan. Soedarsono has attended international theatre and dance conferences in Indonesia as well as in foreign countries, such as France, West Germany, the United States of America, Iran, India, the Philip-pines, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. A few of his numerous publications are in English, e.g., Dances in Indonesia (Jakarta: Gunung Agung, 1974) and Living Traditional Theatres in Indonesia (Yogyakarta: Gadjah Mada University Press, 1974). Includes three postcards. Condition - Fair. Creasing to the spine.
