Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
A social history of the people who owned, built and ran the railway from 1865 to 1950. The individual s who impacted the Talyllyn Railway from its inception in 1865 to the take over by the Preservation Society in 1950 range from those who conceived the railway, through to those who built and equipped it, those who owned it and those who kept it running. They usually only appear briefly, if at all, in the various railway histories but in this book Sara sets these people in the context of tier families and the neighbourhood as well as their railway activity. Searching historical records, she has traced their ancestors and their subsequent families and they appear as part of a wider story and become real people. Condition: Good. Marks to cover but inside pages in great condition.
