Dozens of works chosen by Time-Life appear in this illustrated volume on the Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Francisco Goya. Paintings are printed on many high-quality, unyellowed glossy colour plates. Fold-out pages feature whole masterpieces and selected details in large scale. The book is one of the 28 volume Time-Life library of art series in first edition. The author is Robert Schickel, a journalist who travelled to Spain in research for this book. On slipcase Goya's portrait of the aristocratic Spanish beauty Dona Isabel Cobos de Porcel. End papers depict preparatory drawings for Goya's last series of etchings, 'Disparates'. Hardcover. Good condition book with slipcase. Gilt title on spine & cover. Pages free from inscriptions or markings. Slipcase has some minor wear. Leather spine and boards in good to very good condition. 192 pages.
