Exceptional colour and black-and-white prints of various works highlight this description of the career and life of Da Vinci. Many high-quality, unyellowed glossy colour plates. The book is one of the 28 volume Time-Life library of art series in first edition. The author Robert Wallace has published more than 100 non-fiction articles as well as numerous short stories and poems. On slipcase the head of the Virgin, c. 1499, is shown in a detail from the so-called 'Burlington House Cartoon' after the British collection which once owned it, a study on the theme of the Virgin with Child and St. Anne that preoccupied Leonardo. It appears in its full proportions on page 135. End papers, front: drawing, 'A Crowned Eagle Standing on a Globe and a Wolf Steering a Boat'; back: sheet of studies from the Windsor Collection of the Royal Library. Good condition book with slipcase. Gilt title on spine & cover. Pages free from inscriptions or markings. Slipcase has some minor wear. Leather spine and boards in good to very good condition. 192 pages.
