In illustrated form in the volume both black-and-white and in colour is a rich sampling of sculptures, paintings and drawings produced by the great Michelangelo. Works are printed on many high-quality, unyellowed glossy colour plates. On slipcase cover the Hebrew prophet Isaiah is shown in a detail from Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling. End sheets show Adam and Eve in a barren Garden of Eden from the Sistine Chapel. The book is one of the 28 volume Time-Life library of art series in first edition. The author is Robert Coughlan, a reporter and editor for Time Inc. for more than 25 years. His interest in Michelangelo grew out of his research into Renaissance Florence and the House of Medici, in preparation for a book on Lorenzo. Hardcover. Good condition book with slipcase. Gilt title on spine & cover. Pages free from inscriptions or markings. Slipcase has some minor wear. Leather spine slightly cracked on left front corner, boards in good condition. 202 pages.
