Masses of white flowers will cover this plant throughout the summer months, making this a very popular gardening shrub. Easy to grow, its compact size makes this ideal for smaller gardens, great for planting in borders or containers. Can if grown in ideal conditions give up to four months of blooms each year. Grow Deutzia in any moist, fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Feed and water Deutzia plants regularly until fully established. Once established, Deutzia shrubs will require little attention. After flowering, cut back the flowered shoots to a pair of healthy buds. On mature plants, remove a fifth of the oldest shoots from the base of the plant. Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or other organic matter around the base of the plant after pruning.
