Mahonia Soft Caress is exactly as the name implies. Normally Mahonia have a spiky stem but not this one! This Mahonia has an entirely spike free stem, making it much easier to prune and care for in the garden. This plant is the Winner of the Plant of the Year competition at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2013. A particularly attractive plant to have in your garden as fragrant spikes of golden yellow flowers will appear over the winter and then turn into tiny blue berries, which will attract foraging birds. This plant is ideal for your garden borders and containers. Mahonia likes to be grow in sunny or semi shaded position in the garden, in rich well-drained soil, but try to plant in a sheltered area to avoid the worst of the winter weather.
