Poppy Manhattan has beautiful deep plum ruffled petals with contrasting black blotches. These are nectar-rich flowers so great for attracting bees and butterfliers. This variety is a hardy perennial and is easy to grow, perfect for adding in a sunny border to give a cottage garden feel. These plants are clump-forming, tough and produce over-sized flowers in early summer each year, followed by attractive seed heads. Height:70cm (27"). Spread: 50cm (20"). Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only. When growing Oriental Poppies, choose a sunny position in rich fertile, well-drained soil. Add plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting, mixing it thoroughly and deeply. Deadhead faded poppy flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced.
