Timeless rugs TML12 take its inspiration from an unusual 17th century masterpiece once graced an Imperial Collection (Rijks Museum Amsterdam). The motif a Persian ''Vase-Carpet'' is extremely rich and detailed with abundant floral life. Like all carpets of this class it is characterized by vivid colourization. Its absolutely spectacular polychrome pattern features 12 colors with ground pigments predominating green orange and brown; its design utilizes those colors plus wine-red rose blues greens yellow and white. The border is enhanced by sinuous arabesques. The modern Nourison interpretation captures its essential beauty with an exuberance of design in the classic Vase pattern. A glittering taupe predominates the colour story with equally rich effect in details of bronze lapis and magenta. A narrow border frames this fine piece with artful delicacy.
