The only currently available copies of this book appear to be in America, offered at more than PS1900. It contains writings, statements & interviews by artists to be included in an exhibition 'Towards Another Picture'. Although not all of them were eventually included, the editors of this book felt the collected writings were nonetheless of value in showing the uses of art in post-war Britain. Included are pieces by artists not normally included in contemporary surveys of British art, and the anthology is arranged in a way to display the material in the most revealing context. Andrew Brighton was formerly Senior Curator: Public Events at Tate Modern and has taught at the Royal College of Art, Goldsmiths' College and the London Consortium. He curated the exhibition Towards Another Picture (1977) with Lynda Morris. His books include "Towards Another Picture", "Francis Bacon", "Work by Ana Maria Pacheco", "Picasso for Beginners" and "David Hockney's Prints 1954-77". As well as art criticism, his writings include essays on cultural policy and the rise of management discourse. He is a contributing editor to Critical Quarterly, and is working on a graphic novel with Catherine Brighton. Lynda Morris (b. 1947) worked for London gallerist Nigel Greenwood from 1971-74. She was the curator of EASTinternational Norwich Gallery, Norwich University of the Arts from 1991-2009. An exhibition consisting of material drawn from her personal archive, "Dear Lynda ..." was shown at White Columns, New York in 2012 and toured to five venues in Europe including BQ, Berlin in 2013. Our book is in good condition considering its age, though the covers are a little worn and 'tired', with rubbing of all edges & angles, and tears to top & bottom of the front spine angle (3 cm & 2 cm). Inside, it would seem that a front fep is missing, and a previous owner's name is inscribed at the top of the title page. Apart from these features, the body of the book is firmly bound, with bright pages bearing just 3 small marginal annotations.
