Turner's metal plate workers' workshop companion. And text book for student in technical schools. A manual of workshop practice and technical instruction in the art of pattern drafting, working of metals, and general workshop methods of working sheet and plate metals, for sheet metal workers, boilermakers, coppersmiths, zinc workers, etc. The author is Francis Turner. A foreman sheet metal worker, lecturer on metal plate work (City and Guilds Examination). 1st honours diploma and bronze medallist. Published by Bootle Times Limited in 1938 in Bootle Lancashire (present day Sefton). Eighth edition. "Owing to wartime conditions the four previous editions of this work had to be greatly curtailed in matter, but despite that limitation the reception which has been accorded it has emboldened me to now issue the complete work as intended originally. "I have always felt that there was a want of a handy book that could be used for reference in the workshops, complete with tables of circumferences, etc. that the mechanic could turn to when in a difficulty. I do not agree with some people who maintain that the possible use of tables of reference prevents or at any rate deters a man from learning how to arrive at the result himself, there must at least some small educational value from a constant perusal of such matter, and even this is a gain."
