Two Men - A memoir by: Hugh E. E. Howson Published by Oxford University Press (1919) A scarce World War One memoir of two men's letters, who were masters at Shrewsbury School before the First World War, E H L Southwell and M G White. Both men died during the Battle of the Somme 1916, White on the first day 1st July, Southwell at the battle of Delville Wood July 16th. Would look good rebound. Pages clean and tight with a little light yellowing to edges. binding still tight at front cracked at back. Front and rear boards held together a t bottom with gaffer tape, spine complete but coming away a top and held on with gaffer tape at bottom. Inscription inside: 'S S Sopwith Shrewsbury School Sept. 1915 - Sept 1948, presented to D. S. Goodes Jan 1975 by S.S.S.'s executor - Lady Sinclair'. (Sidney Sopwith taught at Shrewsbury 1915- 1948 and after at Kings School Canterbury. Included is a type written page to whom the letters were written.
