Born in Duisburg, Germany, in 1958, Andrea Stappert had made a life's work of quietly observing and documenting the European art world's most interesting personalities. She moved to Hamburg in 1979, where she studied painting with Sigmar Polke and other instructors at the Academy of Fine Arts, and moved to Cologne in 1985. It was there that Stappert began her career as a photographer, initially taking portraits of German artist Martin Kippenberger. Always analogue and using natural light and settings, the autodidact's work has since focused on the artist portrait, a logical extension of her close collaboration - and often friendships - with artists and other art-world figures. In 1998, Stappert moved to Berlin and has subsequently collaborated with a number of major art institutions in Germany and around the world. This publication has 47 coloured and 110 duplex illustrations. Contributors include Jonathan Dronsfield, Marc Glode, Veit Loers and Julie Sylvester. This copy of Under the Radar is in very good condition. The dust jacket has some minor bumping around the edges. The copy is without inscription. Please note ; additional postage due to weight.
