Following his death in 1957, the collected sermons of Monsignor Ronald Knox were published in a series of volumes. This book was the third, published in 1963. Knox was a theologian, author and radio broadcaster. As well as his religious works he wrote detective fiction during the Golden Age of that genre in the 1920's and '30's. He was a founding member of the Detection Club which included Agatha Christie and Dorothy L. Sayers and which is still going strong today. Knox was also involved in a radio broadcast in 1926 which purported to be reporting live on a revolution taking place in London. This was taken as true in many areas due to the limited communication network at the time. Orson Wells later said that this inspired his 1938 broadcast of War of the Worlds which had a similar effect on the American public. The book is in good condition but has some foxing to the page edges. There is a name plate on the fly leaf and at some point the dust jacket has been attached with sellotape which has discoloured. The dust jacket itself is in reasonable condition for its age but is chipped and torn in places, especially around the top of the spine.
