Vintage 'Flying Eagle' Wooden soroban (Suan Pan , soroban, counting tray) - an abacus developed in Japan. It is derived from the ancient Chinese suanpan, imported to Japan in the 14th century. Like the suanpan, the soroban is still used today, despite the proliferation of practical and affordable pocket electronic calculators. Instructions included Metal pieces to hold everything in place - 1 needs screwing back on Measures approx 30 x 17cm Quite a few chips and scuffs but still functional
