Virginia Woolf Emerging Perspectives (edited By Mark Hussey And Vara Neverow)
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
A collection of selected papers from the Third Annual Conference on Virginia Woolf. Focusing on issues of race, Empire, class, and gender in the works of Virginia Woolf, speakers at the conference examined the relations between Woolf's text and those of African American writers such as Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, and Zora Neale Hurston. In their keynote addresses, the novelist Michelle Cliff and scholar Barbara T. Christian explored race matters in Woolf's text, raising questions that inaugurate an important new theme in Woolf scholarship. Other highlights include J.J. Wilson on the history of the Virginia Woolf Society and founding of Virginia Woolf Miscellany, Isota Tucker Epes on "How Virginia Woolf Brought Me Up," papers on A Room of One's Own as the Blues, on Woolf and Georgia O'Keefe, and on Woolf and Anne Rice, as well as several discussions of how we teach Woolf and how her work is read in the undergraduate classroom. Book is in very good condition.
