Warships Of World War 1 Combined Volume

This book was the very first of a series of books published by Ian Allen looking at warships from the World Wars by country. This actually looks at the Royal Navy and the German Navy of the First World War. This book has been replaced by many other references which are more detailed and complete - as an example, this book provides no information on any German pre-dreadnoughts and only mentions by name the ones who were at Jutland. There are also errors in the text - the book continues to tell the tale that the 18 inch guns that were produced for HMS Furious ended up defending the Singapore Naval Base, and claims that the "Improved Birminghams" (otherwise known as the Elizabethans or the Hawkins class) were reasons for the Washington Treaty limits for cruisers (the reality is much more complicated - the British went to Washington with a clear picture of what thy wanted for a capital ship, while the Americans had clearly explained requirements for a cruiser). The illustrations, however are still very good for their size. There is a lot of wear to the dust jacket considering the book is old.
