Wedgwood Bone China Plate depicting Windsor Castle - Boxed Made in England Issued in an edition of 5000 From a series of watercolours of 'Castles and Country Houses' by David Gentleman The principal home of Kings and Queens of England since the Middle Ages- William the Conqueror built the mound that formed the nucleus of the fortress- Henry 1 was the first monarch to reside there in 1110. The castle has been extensively rebuilt, renovated and enriched over the years particularly during the reigns of Charles II and George IV. George V was the first proclaimed Sovereign of the House of Windsor and in 1952 Queen Elizabeth II declared that she and her children be known as the House and Family of Windsor. One of the famous features of the castle is St. Georges Chapel, which is temporal and spiritual home of the Knights of the Most Noble Order of the Garter. Box is a little tatty but plate is in very good condition
