A first edition copy of this early account of travels and wildlife in Florida and Cuba by a Captain, Second Life Guards. Blue cloth, gilt titles to spine, black borders to front, blind-stamped to back; edgeworn and marked, spine heavily sunned and ends ragged. All edges gilt. Inner hinges split, pages xiii/xiv plus map detached but otherwise secure. Bookplate removal marks front pastedown and ffep, owner names to half-title, frontis and title page heavily foxed. Scattered foxing and a few marginal marks elsewhere, but overall internally clean and well preserved. xiv, 319 pp; tissue protected b&w frontis and illustrated title page with red border, map of Florida. Published 1875
