Window on Oman. Published by Petroleum Development Oman, Hardback with dust jacket in Slipcase, 1985. Languages: English and Arabic. Unpaginated, no ISBN. Published as a tribute to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on the occasion of Oman's 15th National Day. Nicely presented, this is mainly a book of photographs, with a few words at the start of each section and some photo captions. Profusely illustrated with colour and black-and-white photos, the Sultanate of Oman (to give the country its full name) is located on the southeastern coast of the Arabian peninsula. 100 years ago, the agreement was signed between the Sultanate and the British government was signed in which the Sultanate had to consult with the British political agent residing in Muscat and obtain the approval of the High Government of India to extract oil in the Sultanate. Today, Oman ranks approximately 22nd in the world in terms of oil reserves. The tone of this book seem to be that of equating oil production and technology with progress. Condition: Very good. The book and its interior look very nice, as does the dark green slipcase. Considering this publication in almost 40 years old, it has done very well.
