"This is a meticulous and detailed history of Nazeing Aerodrome in Essex , describing with rich detail the people and aircraft - fully illustrated throughout ... covering the years 1929 - 54. Of special interest to all who are interested in rare and interesting photographs of pre and post war aircraft. About the Author: "Leslie Kimm, a twin, was born in Enfield Highway, Middlesex. The family moved to Nazeing, Essex, when he was just a year and a half old. Aeroplanes have always played a major role in his life, from the age of three he was witness to the opening and development of Broxbourne Aerodrome in Nazeing. Aged fourteen he started work at the aerodrome, in the Easter of 1941, and began his career in aviation, working on various types of aircraft, both of wooden and metal construction. Called up early in 1945, he served for three years as a wireless operator in the Royal Corps of Signals, most of that time in the Middle East. On release, Leslie returned to Broxbourne as a Ground Engineer with the now reformed Herts and Essex Aero Club. While there he learnt to fly, and obtained his pilot's "A"-Licence and Aviator's Certificate in September, 1948. Later that year he joined the de Havilland Aircraft Company at Hatfield as a Service Engineer on the early jet aircraft, completing forty three years service, retiring in 1992 as a Principal Project Engineer for British Aerospace. He is married with two sons, both working in aviation"." (Description taken from Amazon.) Sold as a set, these two books are both in Very Good (approaching Fine) condition; this are quite possibly unread copies. The pages are clean, without tears or creasing, with no noted marks or annotations. The binding is tight and the block is good on both books. The dust jackets are clean with minor creases to the top edges.
