This is a three volume set published by Odhams Books Limited regarding the renowned British Prime Minister and wartime leader, Winston Churchill. The first book is a first edition from 1962 and is titled 'A Churchill Anthology: Selections from the Writings and Speeches of Sir Winston Churchill'. Edited by F. W. Heath, it consists of extracts from all of Churchill's books together with some of his most famous speeches, either in full or condensed, since so many of these are historic and have passed into our language (examples of speeches within this book are 'Their Finest Hour' and 'Never was so much owed by so many to so few'). The second book is a fifth impression from 1965 titled 'Painting as a Pastime'. This book comprises two of Churchill's essays 'Hobbies' and 'Painting as a Pastime', within which he discusses how painting helped him 'avoid worry and mental overstrain...[especially when having] to bear exceptional responsibilities and discharge duties upon a very large scale'. There is also a lovely set of colour reproductions at the back of the book of some of Churchill's paintings in all their glory. The third book is a revised and reprinted edition from February 1965 (released a month after Churchill's death) titled 'Churchill: His Life and Times' written by Malcolm Thomson. This book tells the entire life story of Churchill from his birth in 1874, the part he played during his time as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II, and his eventual death in 1965. The text is accompanied by a fantastic wealth of photographs. This collection is a stunning set and offers fascinating insight into one of the icons of British history. Books have very clean and bright pages and only minor wear to covers and spines. Light creasing to a few page corners. Slipcase is included but is slightly worn. Areas where spine has become visible through some pages.
