As A child he is survive in the World War II bomb attacks , stole food from boarding school riding freight train and making hazardous boarder crossing on foot. Finally as a refugee from communism in East Germany he settled down to study winemaking and his mid twenties took a three year contract to make sparkling wine in Australia.
