York - A Study In Conservation
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
This is a report to the Minister of Housing and Local Government and to York City Council by Viscount Esher, published by HMSO in 1968, one of a series of four on the historic towns of Bath, Chester, Chichester and York. The purpose was to discover how to reconcile out old towns with the twentieth century without actually knocking them down. They are a great cultural asset, and, with the growth of tourism, they are increasingly an economic asset as well. A fold-out map of the historic core of the city is included inside the back cover. The book shows fair wear and tear, with some (repaired) tears to the cover, but is in generally good condition.
