The Downy Cherry is a very hardy, deciduous shrub that has broad, wide shape rather than the traditional tree form you would expect from a Cherry. Prunus tomentosa produces pale pink flowers with a delicate fragrance in spring, before the leaves appear, these will develop into bright red fruits by the autumn, much loved by wildlife. The foliage will later turn to yellows and oranges, giving you a final colourful display at the end of the season before they drop.
