Spiraea japonica ‘Double Play Blue Kazoo’ forms a neat, mounding shrub with attractive blue foliage that begins the year tinged with bronze. Throughout summer, it bears numerous clusters of sparkling white flowers that attract pollinating insects. The flowers don’t set seed so there’s no deadheading required, all the plant’s energy is concentrated into flower production and there’s no danger of it becoming invasive. In autumn, the foliage provides another spectacle when it turns a rich red. Spiraea japonica ‘Double Play Blue Kazoo’ is a tough and versatile shrub that is perfect for structural planting or as a low, informal hedge. Height and spread: 60cm (24in).
